What is a UC Master Gardener and How do You Find One?

UC Master Gardeners have been serving Californians in more than 50 counties for decades. They’ve done extensive training with the University of California Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and because their mission is to share science-based horticulture information with the public, their services are free through the Cooperative Extension System (CES).

You can find a UC Master Gardener in your area here. When I looked up San Francisco, I found out there’s a Spring Garden Market and Educational Fair in April and discovered articles about slugs, pruning roses, and how to grow things on a small scale. In Sonoma County, the Master Gardeners are hosting a workshop on how to install and operate a drip water system. Another blog post features advice on year-round food gardening. You get the idea. There’s so much to learn and plenty of free advice from experts. Happy digging!
