Diamond Certified Expert Contributor, Lee Dido: Hello. Today I’d like to feature interior painting and a professional tip for having your interior paint project performed smoothly, efficiently from start to finish with beautiful results. One of the aspects of achieving a high quality paint job when painting interiors with multiple colors on ceiling and wall is to apply a bead of caulking wherever the ceiling meets the wall. This will provide a smooth surface for cutting in or brushing your wall color with a very crisp, straight line even on an uneven surface.
So, you’ll always want to wipe the tip of your caulking gun prior to applicating the bead of caulking just like this, and you’ll want to press it right into the corner here of the ceiling and the wall just like this and as you gently go across the wall you’ll want to pull the trigger enough to apply an even bead of caulking into that corner and crack just like this. Once that is complete, you’ll take your rag and finger and wipe it smooth into that crevice to fill it to achieve a nice smooth edge as shown here. Perfect. Now, that’ll provide an even surface for cutting in your accent color once that’s dried.
Once your bead of caulking has dried correctly into the corner of the crack, you’ll want to take a brush just like this, and as we apply paint to this corner you’ll want to slowly and gently work it into that corner just like that. That’s how you properly paint an accent wall on an uneven or heavy textured surface.
