A great tip for everybody is to always do your homework on the contractor you choose whether that be looking up their CSLB number or just Googling the company as a whole, you can find out a lot about a company. Look at their insurance, look if they've had any issues with the state or any local people around the area. Always ask your client for references for each project, if they've done something similar or something in the neighborhood or just somebody to call and ask how the company was as a whole.
