Detect any mold or dry rot inside of your home. More than likely you have a leak that can be very dangerous and very costly. Dry rot occurs when water is getting into places where it shouldn't and wood gets exposed too much to water over time. It becomes rotted and gets moldy and deteriorates.
Oftentimes what looks like a very small problem can be actually a very big problem. It's good to get it early instead of later. Addressing dry rot problems early can prevent structural issues from happening later on. To detect dry rot on the outside of your home, you can always use a pencil or a pen or something hard to poke into it. If it's soft and spongy, you've got a problem.
