SAN JOSE — Jim Rossi: One of the things that customers can do themselves, which is great, and I educate them about doing. And a lot of times, they actually end up doing it themselves, which is doing rodent control. One of the basic things you can do is just walk around the outside of the perimeter of the residence or commercial building and look for any type of gaps or holes around piping or compromised vents.
Rodents only need a dime size for mice and a quarter size for rodents to fit through. And most people don’t realize it’s that small. So, you can use your finger or even a pen. You just need to make sure it’s excluded, it’s covered in some way with metal. Not with foam because the rodents can eat right through that. But a ¼ inch mesh you can buy at a local hardware store, screw it in around the opening to secure it and exclude the area to prevent rodents from getting access back into the structure.
