Video: What's in an HVAC Estimate?

DUBLIN — Host, Sarah Rutan: When reading an estimate for a new heating and cooling system, there are several things you should be looking for. Today we’re in Dublin with Diamond Certified Expert Contributor Steve Moore of Moore Mechanical to learn more.

Diamond Certified Expert Contributor, Steve Moore: My name is Steve Moore. I’m with Moore Mechanical Heating and Air Conditioning in Dublin. I would like folks out there to think about when they’re getting quotes on a replacement heating system or cooling system or both — make sure that when you get those quotes you are taking a look at what’s being brought to you in that estimate. Are they talking about the ductwork system? Are they presenting you with options to replace or fix? Is there asbestos in the home? Make sure that you’re getting those quotes that have that information in there about the air distribution system: very, very important.

A lot of customers will just focus on getting that furnace replaced and their air conditioner replaced but don’t address that air distribution system that’s under their floor or in their attic. It’s so important that that ductwork system has been sized properly, installed properly. If the ductwork system’s not getting replaced, make sure that your contractor is letting you know that it is in good condition and that it is sized properly to handle that new system that you’re putting into your home.
