Diamond Certified Expert Contributor, Lamine Elabed: I wanted to show you today how to reset a GFI plug. These plugs are around your kitchen, either side of the sink, and your bathroom by the vanity, by the sink, always close to the water. Whether it’s outside, or the plug’s outside, it will have this GFI plug, whether it’s next to the jacuzzi — anyway, anywhere there is a wet area, you have this device. It’s a plug, and it has a switch. It can trigger — any hint of moisture, any hint of circuit touching a human, it will actually reset — basically trigger —  it trips, and shuts off the power, and this will actually save you from shocks, from electrical shocks.

So, when that happens there’s no power in here, and anything else chained to it will have no power, so you have to come in and push the button to reset it and the power is back on again if there is no problem. If there’s another problem, this thing will work again and you have to replace it, but 99% of the time it’s what it is. You need to reset the switch. There’s two switches, one to test and one to reset, and you’re done.
