A drainage professional always knows you never connect your downspouts into a french drain. A french drain should be on a separate pipe where no debris nor leaves are getting into or clogging the holes of the pipe. So you should always have three separate drain systems. A french drain that goes directly into a sump pump, channel drain for a driveway that's sloping downwards a hill, downspouts that go towards the street, and you always want to add surface drains just in case you have water pulling around in areas of your property.
