It's Balazs Banner. I'm here to talk to you about a couple of tips how to select your contractor. So, first I would say check license and bonding if they have all these required licenses and bonds from a contractor. Also important is to make sure they don't just have a license, like a business license from a city like city of Roseville, because I know a lot of people without a license trying to do that as a loophole and and that alone does not give you any security.
So you want to have a contractor state license and, because that requires the contractor, it's mandatory to have a million dollar li li liability insurance, then bonds, and all that, that will keep you safe during the job. Now, another thing would be, is to ask for a detailed estimate. And once you get it, Then you have questions.
You understand the estimate and if you have questions, then you ask the contractor and then make sure that they can answer. So you're, you know, ensure what you're going to pay for and what's included, what's not included and what you're getting into. Now, lastly, I would say very important and it's it seems like it's, it's going around the market that the down payment has to be either 10 percent or 1, 000, but whichever is less.
Because we had experience with with past clients that other contractors tried to take half up front for like a 60, 000 job. And also I know currently going out a lot of scams and people that are trying to take advantage. So this is one of those first screenings if they're trying to take more than 1, 000 up front.
That's probably a red flag. I hope these tips were helpful and you're gonna select your right contractor next time.
