SANTA ROSA — Matt Iribarne: Hi, I’d like to talk to you about glass selection for your product, your buildings. What we typically look for are five factors in your glass: your climate control, your fading factors, your safety controls, sound reduction, and aesthetics.
So, typically with the climate control, what we start looking at is providing tinted glass products that will help slow down the heat transfer. We can look at a lot of the products now offer Low-E coatings, and that further reduces or slows down the heat transfer through your products.
The fading factors that we can deal with, we can get laminated products in there, and that will reduce the fading UV, the damaging UV rays that will come through your glass.
Sound control, what we do on that situation is we can also use a laminated glass and also layering, put an insulated glass factor, but the laminated products will also absorb a lot of the sound.
The aesthetics, we can look at tinting your glass. There’s reflective coatings that get applied to the outside, gives you a whole different look to your building. Some of these aesthetic tinted products will also offer more heat reduction in your, in your glass products.
And safety factors, a lot of the laminated products also get incorporated when we need safety glass, and we can also temper the glass products, creates a glass piece that’s about four times stronger than an annealed product.
