Hi, I'm Doug Cook, owner of Cook and Associates Landscape Company. What our company does is we're a design-build company and landscape construction. We do single-family residential properties. Our function is to work with clients to create their own private sanctuary so that when they come home from a busy day, at whatever their profession is, they can go into their yard and relax, enjoy the space, enjoy their family, and hopefully create many memories in that yard. It all starts with meeting with a client and finding out how their intention to use the yard and how we can help to get them to completion of the project. Our current process in meeting clients and seeing if we can fulfill their needs is to have a phone call with them just to find out what the scope of work is, and we try to figure out if we're going to be a good fit for that client or not. And one of the things that is important to understand about any construction project is where you're at, where you're trying to go, when you're trying to go there, and what the associated costs are going to be from start to finish. Our business has been built on when you look at the housing market in general, 99.9% of houses have been landscaped already. Our business is working for the 99.5% percentage of housing that needs to be re-landscaped. I want to bring in the conversation our staff as well. Our staff in the office has always been at a minimum landscape architecture degree, bachelor's degree, or master's degree, and more years than not we've had licensed landscape architects on staff. This is a profession, there are degrees that you get in landscape architecture so that you can understand what it is you're working on. As far as field staff goes, equally important. No matter who you are or what size your yard is, you deserve to have a well-thought-out landscape project. You don't want to feel like you can't have a good yard because you have, first of all, maybe you don't have the right designer, but second of all, maybe the budget isn't there. You can take the same amount of money on any project and utilize the money correctly and get the best out of the available fund. In the landscape profession, if you want to select a qualified design and build firm, numerous things come into play. As far as the process, first of all, who are you dealing with, are they qualified to do the work. Second of all, if they've given you pricing, how accurate is the pricing and can they stand behind it. Third of all, I think most important and many times clients don't understand the process so we'll take a project and we'll have a given amount of time that we tell the client this is how long that job is going to take. It's important to know that when the job is going to start and when the job is going to finish. We'd love to hear from you, please go to our website, fill out an inquiry, and we'll be in touch.
