So, Custom Exteriors makes sure that we follow all the Cal OSHA safety laws and regulations. We hired a company that comes in and has updated all of our safety requirements, as well as we hold toolbox meetings every single week, on every Friday morning, to make sure that the guys are not only being safe themselves, but also making sure that they're being safe within your home, because that's extremely important. We're working on ladders, we're working on scaffolding, and so we have been certified in scaffolding. We also have been certified in lead containment. We also have ongoing training, not only in the office but also at the job sites, and we also are looking at protecting your home when we're out there. So, we're using a lot of plastic and drop cloths to reduce dust, and also to protect your home when we're in the house. Helpful expertise. What that means is being able to tell the homeowner honestly what is really the right choice for them. They may have an idea or a vision of what they wanted, and when we come in, we'll listen to what you have or what you want, and then we may, you know, give you a different option or a different idea that we feel, as though that maybe the product you really need is something different than you totally thought you were looking for, and so we're going to offer that to you because my guys have been doing this for quite some time. I have some of my representatives who do estimates have been doing this for well over 20 years. So, we're not sending out somebody to your house that doesn't know what they're talking about. I love seeing the end result. I love seeing how our products, whether it be windows or doors or Hardy siding, can totally transform a house. I love seeing homeowners happy and excited and thrilled that they did the product or did the installation with us. I think it's important that you know I have that feeling still and that's why I enjoy doing what I do. It just, you know, that's really what we're shooting for. We're trying to make people happy because we want referrals, and if people are super happy with everything that we've done from the beginning to the end and they feel like they got treated better than they have been by any other contractor they've ever hired to work in their home, that spreads fast and people love to talk about how happy they are, and then on the opposite side, if people are not happy, that even spreads faster. So, it's important for us to make sure that we're making people happy and we're not doing the opposite. Honestly, the reason why fiberglass windows are a big part of our business here at Custom Exteriors is because it gives people a window that has a lower profile frame, so you gain more glass because it is stronger than vinyl. Fiberglass is eight times stronger than vinyl. It doesn't expand and contract like vinyl. It also comes in ebony, which is a dark black frame, which is extremely popular right now. It's funny how, you know, things have changed over years as far as what colors are being used by homeowners. A lot of people today are doing like a white farmhouse look on their homes and then they want a black ebony frame, so fiberglass gives you a lot of options and a lot of additional ideas and things that you can do to a home that you can't do with a vinyl frame window. The reason why you should pull a building permit may not be just because you need one but also it'll make sure that you're passing the codes. A lot of homes in the Bay Area are now in what we call a fire zone where you have to do special things to your windows. So, in other words, the codes now require that one pane of glass be tempered on your window no matter where that window is in your home, and so the inner pain is what's tempered when it's required if you say don't pull a permit and then an inspector comes by and you've just finished getting 30 windows installed in your house and they find out that it was done without that code being passed, you may have to redo all the windows that you just spent thousands of dollars installing. The other important thing is, is that you want to make sure that if Hardy Siding is what you're doing, you're making sure that the proper backer board is being used behind that siding because Hardy siding itself does not pass the codes. It's actually the material that's used behind it that's required too. Custom Exteriors pulls permits on the jobs when required. We want to make sure that your products are not only passing all those codes but also the proper installation of new openings and windows and doors have to have the structural strength to be able to support the walls and the ceilings and everything else around that opening so that you can have a house that you know won't be an issue down the road, especially if you plan on selling at some time. I'm proud to say that Custom Exteriors has been complemented many, many times by our installation crews for their cleanliness. I have been told and there's videos that you can watch on YouTube where people have said they were shocked by how quiet, how unobtrusive our installers are when they're at the job site and how efficient they are daily and getting as much work as they get done without really making any mess. They clean up after themselves, they're used to working in homes not housing tracks so these guys that work for me are very proud of how they keep the job clean and safe. It's really important to us that people have all their windows not only installed correctly but also that they're washed and clean after we leave the job site and you'll be proud of what we do.
