Ohad Kahlani: Destiny Fulfilled
By Matt Solis, Editor
When asked how he got involved with the garage door industry, Ohad Kahlani replies that it was simply meant to be. “In 2012, I started working for some guys who had been installing garage doors for a long time and quickly realized it was a perfect fit,” he recalls. “By 2016, I’d gained enough experience to launch Turbo Garage Door. I wanted to do things differently by respecting people’s time, offering reasonable prices and bringing a higher level of customer service.”
Today, Ohad says his favorite parts of his job are interacting with clients and helping them fulfill their garage door needs. “No two jobs are the same, so I really enjoy the challenge of figuring out the best ways to solve certain problems and make my customers’ garage doors run smoothly again. Seeing them happy makes me happy.”
Originally from Oakland, Ohad currently lives in Santa Rosa with his wife and their two children. “We love Santa Rosa—it’s a big city, but it still has that countryside feel,” he says. “There’s less traffic, the people are friendlier and the scenery is beautiful, so it has everything you could want.”
Outside of work, Ohad spends most of his free time doing outdoor activities like water skiing and hiking with his family, but he also makes room for a personal favorite whenever possible. “Soccer is my biggest hobby,” he says. “I wish I had more time to play, but I watch a lot of games on TV. It’s tough to invest in hobbies when you have kids and run a business, though. By the time I get home at night, it’s all about family.”
In terms of a personal or professional philosophy, Ohad is a big believer in karmic retribution. “If you do right by others, they’re going to do right by you, and the opposite is also true,” he offers. “I feel like there’s no need to complain and whine all day, so I try to approach everything with a smile.”
When asked the first thing he’d do if he could retire tomorrow, Ohad says extended travel would definitely be on the agenda. “I would love to take my family to Europe and Asia, but we could also buy an RV and just drive across the United States. We have a long list of places we want to see, so it would be great to have that kind of time.”
