Luis Ramos: Following His Passion
By Matt Solis, Editor
When he first entered the insulation industry, Luis Ramos didn’t have any long-term aspirations besides providing for his young family, but it didn’t take long for him to discover an innate love for the work. “I got into the insulation industry in 2000, right after high school,” he remembers. “I already had a child at that point, so I needed a job. I started working for a contractor in their warehouse and eventually worked my way up to the office. I stayed there for about 20 years and developed a real passion for the trade.”
Eventually, Luis decided to start his own business because he wanted to create more opportunities for himself and others. “I also noticed that many large insulation firms didn’t really care about the results of their work,” he adds. “I know how much a house or even a single room changes when you apply the right type of insulation, and I like how much of a difference it makes.”
Today, as owner of Insul-Techs Inc, Luis says his favorite parts of his job are interacting with clients and helping them achieve their goals. “I love seeing the results of my work and having clients tell me how happy they are with their insulation. I also like giving people the opportunity to have a good job and provide a better life for their families.”
Originally from Mexico City, Luis relocated to the Bay Area with his parents when he was 12 years old and currently resides in Concord, where he appreciates the geographical convenience of life in the East Bay. “I love how central we are to everything going on in the Bay Area,” he affirms. “We have the ability to grow in many ways, both personally and financially.”
A devoted family man, Luis dedicates most of his free time to his wife, Georgina, and their four children, three of whom are currently enrolled in college. “We’re very family-oriented, which is a big part of Mexican culture,” he says. “My parents live with us, too, so there’s always a lot of family time.”
When asked what his life might look like if he retired tomorrow, Luis says he would spend more time volunteering for charitable causes. “I believe that giving is living, so I would donate my time and money to those in need. I’m also trying to get into aviation, so that’s probably going to be my main hobby when I retire.”
