Daniel Arzate: A Natural Progression
By Matt Solis, Editor
For Daniel Arzate, getting involved in the restoration industry was a natural progression from his original starting point. “I used to run a cleaning company that offered a range of services, including window cleaning, carpet cleaning and gutter cleaning,” he remembers. “During our carpet cleaning jobs, we would occasionally receive calls from people dealing with water bursts and related issues. The term ‘restoration’ kept coming up in those conversations, which piqued my curiosity. Eventually, I attended a convention to learn more about the restoration industry, and that motivated me to take some courses and get certified. That was in 2008 and I’ve been doing it ever since.”
Today, as owner of Dansel Restoration Inc., Daniel says his favorite part of his job is helping people through stressful situations. “Dealing with an unexpected disaster like a flood or fire can be overwhelming for homeowners, so I focus on providing them with immediate support so they feel assured that their problems will be resolved. Ultimately, my goal is to get them back to normal as quickly as possible.”
A resident of the Bay Area since 1997, Daniel says his favorite part of living and working in the region is the tremendous sense of community that it fosters. “I love the cultural diversity of the Bay, especially when it comes to food and entertainment. There are lots of things to do and the weather is great, so there’s plenty to like about being here.”
Outside of work, Daniel likes spending time with his two adult daughters and staying active by playing competitive soccer. “I’ve been playing soccer all my life,” he affirms. “I’m 43 years old, so of course I’m not as fast as I used to be, but I still play two or three times a week.” In addition to hitting the pitch, Daniel enjoys lifting weights at the gym and riding his BMW R nineT motorcycle.
When asked to describe his personal or professional philosophy, Daniel says it’s all about regulating emotional responses. “The biggest quality that any human can possess is the ability to control their emotions. It’s the one thing we truly have control over, unlike external factors like politics and the weather. We can choose how we react to certain situations, which changes their meaning. So, my advice is to cultivate a mindset that lets you live with emotions that you want to experience throughout your day. If you focus on negative emotions, you make them stronger. For example, if you spend most of your day frustrated and angry, those emotions will become too familiar. I try to be conscious of this and take actions to support a positive state of mind.”

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
A: Europe, especially Spain so I could go to an FC Barcelona game.

A: Seven. I used to wear that number as a kid because it’s the month that I was born.
Q: Are you an early bird or a night owl?
A: I’m not an early bird, but I’m forced to be one. I’m more focused at night.
Q: Would you rather live in the city or the country?
A: The city. It’s fun to visit the country, but I’ve always been more adjusted to city life.
