Diamond Certified Expert Contributor, Ken Slosarik: Okay, so one of my biggest suggestions for people that are going to tackle a job themselves is priming. A lot of times, the problems I see on our jobs are because of peeling paint. And peeling paint happens when – most of the time – it’s not primed properly. So, after you scrape it off and get any bare wood or bare dry wall interior or exterior – so, when you’re down to the bare surface – that’s where primer’s needed. Because a primer stabilizes the surface and gives the paint a surface to stick to. Primer and paint work as a team. The primer stabilizes it and the paint gives it ultraviolet protection. So, that’s one of the most important things I think anybody can do to help themselves on a paint job.
