CONCORD – Host, Sarah Rutan: A crucial part of choosing interior paint colors is testing samples to see how they look in your home. Today we’re in Concord with Diamond Certified Expert Contributor Joe Sabel of J & J’s Final Coat Painting to learn some important tips.
Diamond Certified Expert Contributor, Joe Sabel: Color selection is, without a doubt, the most difficult decision people make when painting their house. Any qualified painting contractor will recommend to their customers to go down to the local paint store, start off with some little chips from, you know, the store. And when you narrow the field down, pick up a few sample quarts. They’re cheap insurance. They’re $5.00 apiece. Bring them home. Put them on your walls in the rooms you’re going to paint, obviously. And make sure they’re going to go with the rest of your room.
Also, keep in mind that the light has everything to do with the way your brain perceives colors. So, put them in different areas, so you get an idea of how those colors are going to work in different lighting. The same holds true with the exterior of your home. Put those colors in the front. But them in the back. Live with it for a few days, or a week if necessary, just to make sure you chose the right colors. Thank you.
