Video: James Hardie Fiber Cement Siding

PLEASANTON — Host, Sarah Rutan: If you’re planning to replace your home’s siding, one product to consider is James Hardie fiber cement siding. To learn more, we’re in Pleasanton with Robert Vigil of Custom Exteriors, speaking on behalf of Diamond Certified Expert Contributor Jeff Kendall.

Robert Vigil: A great solution to sliding project would be replacing your existing siding with James Hardy. James Hardy is a cement fiber board. Comes in various different options in terms of the finish, but what’s most common is the traditional lap siding, which you see here. The nice thing about this lap siding is, all the nails are behind the top layer, so it leaves a nice finish, non-nail finish. That way, when we install the trim, you basically have a completely finished product with the pre-finish on the trim, pre-finish on the siding.

And what you’re looking at here is a project where we have windows involved and all of your windows, all of your doors, and any of the penetrations that may be in your house all get trimmed out with the same type of trim, which is, once again, James Hardy. And lastly, they offer a soffit solution, which hides all the fascia boards. Nice thing about the James Hardy is, it does offer pre-finished colors with pre-finished matching on the caulking. So, once we’re done with the installation, there’s nothing for you to do.
