Your ductwork plays a crucial role in maintaining your indoor air quality, but over time, it can become compromised due to damage, leaks or even pest infestations. Here are some key signs that indicate it’s time for a professional duct inspection:
Loose insulation
If you notice bits of insulation coming out of your ceiling or floor registers, rodents have likely chewed through your duct lining and are using the insulation as nesting material.
Unusual noises and smells
If you hear scratching sounds or notice a lingering smell of mildew or decay coming from your vents, your ductwork has probably been infiltrated by rodents.
Reduced airflow or increased energy bills
Leaks or blockages in compromised ductwork can decrease the efficiency of your HVAC system, making it work harder and increasing energy costs.
