Installing a fence on your property is a great way to enhance privacy, security and curb appeal. Here are two key factors to consider when planning your project:
Tailor the fence to different areas. Not all sections of your property require the same type of fence—in fact, mixing fence styles can actually improve functionality and aesthetic appeal. For example, if your backyard borders an open space, you may want a wire fence that deters wildlife without obstructing your view. If you want more privacy between you and your neighbor, you can install a tall wood fence. Near the front of your home, a decorative or fire-resistant fence may be more appropriate.
Adhere to fire safety and “Zone Zero” regulations. Insurance companies and fire departments have started emphasizing the importance of reducing fire hazards within five feet of homes. This means avoiding wood fencing that directly touches your house and replacing flammable landscaping materials like tan bark and dry plants. These precautionary steps can help slow the spread of fire and improve overall home safety.
