In the 1800’s, Stony Point Rock Quarry provided marble-like blocks for many buildings (including the County Courthouse in Santa Rosa) in Sonoma and Marin Counties. The quarry was relocated to Stony Point Road in the 1900’s and today the materials mined from it are crushed and used primarily for construction of roadways and drainage. Stony Point Rock Quarry, Inc. was officially formed in 1973 and in the 1990’s became a second-generation family business. In 1999, they purchased Soils Plus, an additional quarry in Sonoma, that allows them to offer a larger variety of aggregate and soil products.Aggregates from Stony Point Rock Quarry are used for bedding pipelines, filling potholes on ranch roads, leveling beneath slabs and laying the foundations for paved roads. Larger stones are often utilized for drainage, rock walls, erosion control and decorative landscaping. Additionally, Stony Point Rock Quarry provides loams, composts, mulches and soil mixes for landscaping and gardening. No project is too large or too small – you can get as much or as little as your job demands. If you’re not sure what you need, Stony Point Rock Quarry will be happy to help you determine the type and quantity of material necessary and arrange for delivery to your site.
