Tom Del Conte founded his business in 1972, taking on small projects to put himself through college, but after getting a degree in business administration, he realized he was happiest working outdoors. That business administration degree came in handy though— his company now tackles a wide range of projects and has more than 100 employees. Employee training is absolutely key, so they undergo training in new products, techniques and practices on a regular basis.

Offering full-service design, installation and maintenance, Del Conte’s Landscaping has earned 36 prestigious industry awards and is an Alameda and Contra Costa certified Green Business. Projects include hardscapes, arbors, fountains, and retaining walls as well as landscaping. Del Conte’s Landscaping has extensive experience in irrigation, which is especially important where dry summers are the norm. A computer-controlled irrigation system can save up to 60% on water consumption, but such systems only made sense for extremely large applications like golf courses until Tom Del Conte decided to find a way to make them affordable for homeowners’ associations and business parks. A sister company, Vision Recycling, grew out of Del Conte’s decision to tackle green waste processing.
